STUDY - ST. CATHERINE
Tuesdays -9:45AM From studying the Bible we learn all about the people and prophets in the Old Testament - the hard times they lived in, the glories they knew, and the New Testament which is the total fulfillment of what life is like presently with Jesus at our Center. The Gospels written through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit are as diverse in style and content as the people who gather together Tuesday mornings to share, and be inspired, to see Christ's footsteps in each other's lives. Our Moderator, Mary Rice, gathers information linking together the Old and the New in chapter, line and verse. We study the Gospel Writers - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and are in awe of St. Paul who was transformed from a hater of the Gentiles to a lover of Christ. He didn't just take one giant step from the Old to the New. Like us he studied taking little steps at first. As a Rabbi, he knew the Old Testament verbatim and had to live within its confines but now in the freedom of the New Testament, he gathers the Gentiles and those who have never heard about the Lord from all parts of the world and ties them together into Jesus. And, he's still doing it today. We can walk onto the path each week inside the pages of Scripture where we find Jesus waiting for us. In Him, we can be so much more than we ever thought possible. Whether you meditate on Passages, learn from the Parables and discuss how this Gospel Writer or another put the Christ story together, we try to figure out what underlying thoughts and messages are incorporated in the words for us. Come, join us - don't knock - just walk in - You Are All Welcome. |
